Where I Find Myself

Batten down the hatches
And close up all the doors
Secure all the latches
As my black dog uses claws

Find hard the constant battle
I admit I'm so afraid
My emotions are in tatters
And nerve endings are all frayed

I came to my senses
In my heart I have a dream
Feel pressure so intense
Fight or flight is all it sees

These trials and tribulations
Start troubles running rife
Escaping this reality
Of my sad and fucked up life

When I shut myself in a room
From a fear of impending doom
With a light from the full Moon
Can I find myself
All alone in my cocoon
Where I recharge and retune
I'll be back here one day soon

It goes down the generations
Social ineptitude
Show signs of any weakness
No masculine attitudes

I face fists that give a beating
Spill blood behind the school
Avoid your eyes from meeting
Or pretend to act a fool

Save face and stop pretending
You can never be that cool
Feed off your biggest fear
That I must accept their rules

I get by with my demons
Like old friendships I've renewed
It's better the devil you know
Than the devil you didn't choose
