Botanic Endgame - Michael Marra E|-------------------------------|If you enjoyed this, please add it to your favourites and/or give a rating to show appreciation for the work that went into providing it for youE|-------------------------------|E|-------------------------------|E|------------------------ E|-------|-----------------Notes: The song is based around a chess club meeting in Belfast with subversive humour coming from using terminology more commonly used during "The Troubles". "Fraoich" is Gaelic for heather and is a female name which can be pronounced a few ways usually depending on region but "Fray-och" or "Froo-ch" are used. "Tiocfaidh ar la" means "our day will come" and was associated with many republican prisoners during "The Troubles"...it is usually pronounced "Chuckah are lah" though again, regional variations exist. The phrase which procedes it "No Surrender" was associated with unionists during the same times.E|-------------------------------|E|-------------------------------|E|------------------------ E|-------|-----------------[Intro]D [Verse]D G D A Take a cab downtown and meet a man called Seamus, shake him by the hand tell him all is wellD G D A D Bm D Rendezvous with Billy in the bar you'll be shown to a room in the York Ho-telG D AD G D A These boys never heard of tentative gambits they're more or less nuttin' so you must take careD G D A D They'll all have pieces and they'll all be frowning a-larm clock ticking on a beer mat thereBm Half hearted Henno from the Crumlin Road sweet little Fraoich from the South ArmaghD G D A And the one killed a bishop crying "No Sur-render" the other hits a knight and it'sD "Tiocfaidh ar la" [Instrumental]Bm D G D A D G D A D G D A DBm Heavies from the falls and the Shankill Road one step forward and one to the sideD G D A D There's a big man coming all the way from Derry a-nother who'll be training it from Mala-hideBm You can rely on Seamus, he'll make sure all is wellD G D A D But your constitution must be strong, for the chess club meeting at the York Ho-tel
