By The Gullet

Seized me by the gullet again
Naked, a body that boasted youth
I immersed myself in it

And I bit into the dated fruit
I immersed myself in it

And I could be found dancing again
In the back of a room of the Holiday Inn
With a glass and a grin
The light flooding in
Who knows me here?

So I went walking
I’d never seen so much beauty in the face
Of a man so cunning
I immersed myself in it
Said I’ve been drowning
I immersed myself in him
Thought I was better
I thought myself loose-limbed and lithe
I was longing again

And I could be found dancing again

With a glass and a grin

Who knows me here?

Loath to look back
