Scratches

I feel you crawling beneath my skin
Through open wounds I let you in
Hoping you could drain the poison pumping through these veins
But my body shakes and my skin goes white
As you dig in deeper like a parasite
Tainting worse the chemicals that flow into my brain

The scratches on the wall will let you know I wanted out
Bloody fingertips I try to hide each day
The scratches from your fingernails remain upon my back
From sleepless nights when all we had would surely fade
The scratches on the bedpost is just another sign of being used
