Echoes from the Pyre

Smoke still clings to every breath
A quiet hymn in shades of death
(The fire spoke what I could not)
It burned my name, but left the thought

Ashes Whisper in the rain
Ghosts of vows I can't explain
The flame was cruel, but still it freed
The part of me they couldn't bleed

I watched it all dissolve in red
The words unsaid, the tears I bled
But silence grows from what expires
And I still hear the moan of fire

I don't weep for what was lost
The echoes speak in fire and frost
A requiem for who I was
A fading voice
Beneath the dust
They lit the flame to make me die
But I became the pyre's cry

The world moved on and shut its eyes
But embers sing where ruin lies
I buried hope, I burned regret
Yet some goodbyes still echo yet

No shrine remains, no mourners came
But ashes still recall my name
The wind repeats what won't expire
The final breath of fire

I don't long for what was mine
The pyre cleansed, but left a sign
A name reborn in flame and loss
A crown unclaimed, a heart uncrossed
The world forgot how I caught fire
But I still sing from the pyre
