Nocturnal Gaze

My closet holds a secret
I know that I can’t keep
It whispers my name at night
As I fall Asleep

When I hear that voice I creep

For forty days
And Forty nights
I crawl into your bed
For forty days

You calm the beast inside my head

The rattle of chains
Haunts my room
Most every single night
I pull the covers
Across my eyes
But the ghosts are in my mind

And I reach for you even though I’m blind

I do not dread the silence
When you hold me near
Like a child you cover me
Smothering my fear
