Bragging Rights

I worked way too hard for this
Told myself I was outgoing, 'til I believed it
Asked friends to be my biggest critics
For the motivation I needed not to quit

I don’t want to watch the bees die or smash my hips on tables
But I always act so frantic and it just comes off as unstable
What’s the difference? Lack of reference If I pour it all out at once
But it’s the difference in the distance
Yeah yeah, you can just put it in the trunk (worked too hard for)
Put it in the trunk (worked too hard for)

Won’t take my shirt off for you, but don’t tell anybody
I’m about to break the rules, but don’t tell anybody
Rockstar? No, I’m a modern fool, but don’t tell anybody
    Wanna take off the shoes?

I always knew school wasn't for me
Sorry mom and dad, I don’t need to take a year off to think
I'm already a fuck up, so what's one more thing?
I just can’t spend my life wondering what I could’ve been
I have to work twice as hard to get half of what my white counterparts get
So I’ll apply it to what I want
Can’t do a 9-5 or join the military industrial complex
Because for every guy that tried to fuck me and put my dreams down, and the bands in it for themselves and a free round
There’s could be someone that looks just like me
That needs to hear they’re not alone, or at least they don’t have to be
It might takes years, it might not happen at all
Could end with a mid-life crisis in a bathroom stall
You can save every reason it’s too big a risk
I’ve already heard it and I know that it’s worth it

I’m no longer confused, but don’t tell anybody
I’m about to break the rules, but don’t tell anybody
I got something better than school, but don’t tell anybody
They want me to get a safe job, just like everybody
They ain’t walked in my shoes, I’m just not everybody

If I put it into words would you hear me out? (worked too hard for)
If I put it into words would you hear me out?
If I put it into words would you hear me out? (worked too hard for)
    Hear me out
