A dragonfly landed on my friend linn's fingertip
Reminding us we need to rest on this the long strange trip
But also it did whisper that some change was on it's way
The old world, it is crumbling and the new one starts today

I played the smart professor, yes I tried it on for size
I'm done with facts and figures now I hunger to be wise
And I am finding some okayness deep inside this veil of tears
Some call it delusion, I call it getting on in years

Head on heart each morning take my dose of daily bread
And head off in the battle against these voices in my head
They say I'm not worthy, that I'm too scuffed up to pray

The world's a great seductress and it wants me on it's team
Best to heed the words of those that woke up from the dream
So I'm reading all the holy books and this is my 40th year
Rejoice, they say, have courage, be content and of good cheer
