The Endless Horizon

The walls were standing strong and high
The fields were blessed with golden rain
The people sang of peaceful days
Yet still I could not calm my brain

Beyond the borders of the maps
Beyond the mountains and the seas
I felt a calling from the unknown
Carried softly by the breeze

What lies beyond the edge of thought?
What waits behind the final door?
For every answer that I found
Awakened questions even more

To the endless horizon
Where the secrets never end
I will follow every shadow
I will chase the wind again

I learned the language of the rivers
Read the patterns in the sky
Measured seasons, counted ages
Asked the reason mountains rise

Only widened my surprise

The deeper that I walked within
The larger grew the mystery
And every truth I thought I held
Became another sea
