This Time

The room is spinning, as the world becomes clear
I have no idea, how I ended up here
The house is trashed, but it's not mine
I'm surrounded by strangers, and empty bottles of wine

I struggle recalling the events of last night
Piecing together, praying I'm right
I've been here before, and I said it then
This is the last time, never again

This time is different
This time I mean it
This time I'll say it
Until I believe it
This time I'm serious

This time I promise
That I'm aware
That I can't keep going, pretending I'm fine
I know I was lucky

It didn't take long, for those words to fade
In a hospital bed, is where I lay
Listening to the doctor, and what could have been
As I try to clean up, this mess I'm in

Of broken bottles and shattered dreams

That was three hundred sixty-four days ago
I stand here, but I've got a ways to go
But in all that time I haven't touched a glass
