Dust On The Snow

I met an old man one morning, in

an all night coffee shop
he looked about as old as time and,

the folks around there called him 
pop

He said down beside me and winked 
one eye and grinned

Said he thought he knew me the 
minute I came in
he said I looked like his son, but

said that couldn't be, you see he

said he died in the summer of 43

And then he got to talking about

time and how we waste it and he said

never though about time

I was young and had more than that

and im in a hurry because downtown

in to that coffee shop

and then the waitress told me that

just 2 weeks

ago the old man went outside and

just kinda fell over in the snow

and I remember that old man so well

its hard to thing he's dead when

just two weeks ago today sat down 
beside me and said
