Painting Pictures

I never look under the bed before I fall asleep anymore
I don’t look back on all the promises I didn’t keep to myself
I try to focus on the present but my thoughts they stray
So I say hey, hey, hey

Why did you have to come back today?
Where have you been hiding while I’ve been healing?
Are you coming to get me for good this time?
Cause I’ve been painting pictures without you
You can’t make me erase them
'Cause this time I’m coming through

Since you’ve been gone I’ve found so many things to keep me calm
Like a bomb
I’ve made myself into something that I can say I’m proud of
I try to keep myself from ever getting hurt again
So I say hey, hey, hey
