It comes from the ground
The peeled and crumbling crust reveals what stirs profound
Monolith bound

It comes from the clash
Cephalic continents collide
Churning the mixed mind-brew anew

Progeny rumbles in the earth
Maternal amniotic girth
Vertical, inch by inch the birth
Majesty from the mud and the dirt

It comes from the past
Strange gift of time
Old plains erode to emptiness
Now opportune to toil till the soil exhumes

Progeny rumbles in the earth
We heave to see as it to breathe
Vertical, inch by inch the birth
Majesty from the mud and the dirt

Germinate at dawn and grow past dusk exhaustion
An era comes to an end
End of excuse and all its many masks
An end of counting days in self-prophetic confidence
A new era of orogeny

Where high above the docile clay
Mundane, uninspired, regurgitate
There stands a bold intrusion tall
A bastion erect, growing and mountainous
Granite chariot to ride as it grows

Shrine
A faceless idol in the highest summit walls
And houses sit in craggily caves
A residence of introspection for those who climb
Unsatisfied above the birds, wanting instead to be among the stars
