In the beginning at the dawn of time,
you were there out of godly lines
but God was god, creator and king

Second in line, yet among the serving.
First of angles, never failing
Keeper of Eden, anointed by Him.

On the mountain of God living by his side,
filled with beauty, wisdom and pride
You were dressed in gold, perfect from the start

But so much glory and so much power
was too much to handle, in the morning hour
your heart grew dark and God pushed you apart

You fell twice, you forgot who you are
You fell twice, the Shining Morning Star
So don't come around telling me lies
'Cause I know you, and you fell twice

Striving towards the throne of high,
as a falling star you fled the sky.
With so many angels, on third was the loss
Cast out from Heaven, your beauty was gone,
fighting a war you thought you had won
The victor was broken, nailed to a cross

You fell twice, by the death of the Son
You fell twice, He was the Holy One
So don't come around telling me lies
'Cause I know you, and you fell twice

So many times you've tried to separate us all from God
So many times you've played your games
But there is nothing in this world today,
that can tear us apart from His love

You didn't expect the Holy Word
to give his life and shed His blood
to pay the due and die upon a tree

and so you're left with the good old lie:
that we can be god if we only try
But we trust in God and He'll set us free

You fell twice, but we won't keep on falling
You fell twice, we hear the Lord is calling
The night is day, our chains are torn
The Lord is good, our sin is gone.
