Molten Rock

They came from far and wide
Over the oceans they sailed
They took me by surprise

They didn't ask my name
Jumped into my rivers bare
They knew no fear nor shame

Was it the gold
That ran through my veins
Was it the snow
That covered my peaks
Was it the dust
That rolled down my plains
Or the rocks I hid underneath
That made them forget

That my heart is soft
Like molten rock
Pumping blood
In gushes, it rushes
Through my limbs
From deep within
And my skin will breathe fire

They dug and scraped and raked
Scratched down every crack
They hacked and pushed and ripped

And though I cannot hide
I can be still and wait
Oh, I will bide my time

With the gold
That runs through my veins
The snow that covers my peaks
The dust that rolls down my plains
And the rocks I hide underneath
To make them forget
