Just Like That

I'll tell you everything as clearly as a fax machine
in spite of all the evidence that can be less intense
but i don't know what to say without digging my own grave
so i try to change the subject though i know it's just too late
And I don't want to waste another day here
inside
just try to reach the outside
you'll find
your best intentions
shut down
just like that
i took the faster round like goldfish in a plastic bag
i don't know the significance of living in the present tense
And when i start to stray i don't get too far away
So i never know the difference 'til it hits me in the face
And i'm not going to spend another day here
