Spring

After the snow went away
You stood by the fire
With an arm full of wood
Your charcoaled empire
And you smeared all the ashes
All over your body
Smothered in the remnant
Of a swollen memory
And you ran to the forest
And a cold sanctuary
The last breath of snowflake
Swallowed beneath
