The floorboard creaks, one step after another
Damp from the morning fog, her skin glistens
In the pale light through the window
These years of repetition, wearing thin

Despair leaks from the lining of the walls above
Bringing an infinite numbness
My arms at my chest, positioning my fingers
Falling into eternal rest
Impaled by misery’s stake, at her hand
I’ve been here for days

The air thickens
As the sky falls, blending into the dirt
Breathing fades
